Quilting Design Overview
The designs are digitised and sized to suit each quilt and stitched-out using a computerised system, providing an endless variety of pattens.
Edge to Edge designs can also be used inside the quilt's borders, stitched from inside the border edge to border edge. The border is then quilted separately using a complimentary design.
Edge to Edge quilting is cost effective and sure to be within your budget.
If your finished quilt is to be a wedding, anniversary or birthday gift, every effort will be made to finish it in time.
Block Designs
This design catalogue does not include block designs. The web sites recommended above have numerous designs, categorised to facilitate your choices.
Block designs are typically used in Custom Quilting where a suite of individual but complimentary designs are quilted onto each pieced block, in and around blocks, appliqué and embellishments and on borders. Borders will often include a corner block design.
Quilting Designs
The designs displayed on this catalogue have been purchased by Irene Andrews Quilting and are licensed by the suppliers to use on my long-arm quilting machine for commercial purposes.
Edge to Edge Designs
Edge to Edge designs are suitable as all-over quilting designs. This type of machine quilting involves rows of quilting worked from one side's edge of the quilt across to the opposite side edge with a repeat of that row through the quilt.
I recommend designs where the rows are nested because the nested rows produce an all-over quilted look as in the Feather Delight example from Pro-Stitcher. The result is an even spread of quilting over the whole quilt.
Can't Find a Suitable Design
If I don't have a suitable design then please view the catalogues at Lorian Quilting, Anne Bright, Pro-Stitcher.
For a small fee, as indicated on the respective websites, I wlll purchase and download your chosen design in a format suitable for my long-arm machine.
Designs usually cost from $15.00 to $20.00.
Typically, custom quilting requires a combination of computerised machine quilting and freehand quilting.
A common custom quilting technique is "Stitch in the Ditch" where the quilting is done in the seams. The seams are pressed to one side so that the quilting stitch is made through the top's fabric.
At present I am unable to provide this service due to teaching commitments. However, I am willing to discuss your options, provide advice, and can recommend other quilting service providers
